Strenuous exercise will often lead to a red face and ears in some people, but again this is normally short-lived and the face returns to normal soon after.

People who suffer from facial reddening often like to walk in the fresh air prior to an important engagement, or will have the air vent in the car directed at their face on the way. The cooler air on their face can give some comfort, but this is often short lived when they arrive at their destination. They may arrive after a short walk, with a cooling wind on their face and feel quite good and ready for the social ordeal ahead. However, once they enter the location of the event, excessive blushing will flare up almost immediately, especially after a meeting a few people and the social nightmare begins.

Red face sufferers generally tend to be less confident than those without the affliction. The question is whether they lack confidence because of the blushing or that they blush because they are low on confidence. Either way is can be a social handicap, that most of the population do not have to endure.  The good news is that there are treatments available, and even if untreated, blushing becomes less severe with age.

Rosacea is evident by a redness of the face, nose, chin, but unlike blushing, the blood vessels under the skin have ruptured causing acne like symptoms. Rosacea can be particularly distressing in severe cases and can afflict people for most of their lives. Flare ups of rosacea on a person’s face can be controlled however, by avoiding certain triggers and situations so that facial redness can be minimized.
